Coal power vs. clean water: Hearing on coal plant wastewater discharge in Washington, MO on Feb 17

IMPORTANT LOCAL HEARING FEB 17th ON THE LABADIE POWER PLANT WASTEWATER DISCHARGE PERMIT:

The department will hold a public hearing from 7-9 p.m., FEB. 17, 2015 at the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS HALL, 1121 Columbus Lane, WASHINGTON MO, on the renewal of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit for the Ameren – Missouri Labadie Energy Center.
The hearing is to understand and discuss public concerns about the Labadie Energy Center’s Missouri state operating permit renewal, which authorizes the discharge of wastewater from the facility. The Labadie Energy Center is located in Franklin County at 226 Labadie Power Plant Road, Labadie, MO 63055.
Please note that the department’s clean water jurisdiction, as implemented through this permit, does not address questions beyond water quality related issues.
